Dragon Phoenix

Recently went for brunch with the family. Originally we intended to have lunch at Shin Yeh, but when we got there at 11:30am on a Sunday, it was still not open. So we ended up at Dragon Phoenix Restaurant on the 6th level of Liang Court instead.

We were seated quickly even though we did not have a reservation. We ordered and the food came relatively quickly and all at one go. In future, we will order in stages, so that the food will remain hot while we eat.

香滑皮蛋粥

海蜇拌汾蹄

即拉叉燒腸粉

炭燒腩仔肉

The Jellyfish and Pork Knuckles dish was quite unusual, topped with a special garlic and shallot sauce, but the Roasted Pork Belly was too thickly sliced and not as crispy as expected. The rest of the dim sum were quite ordinary, not that they were no good, just nothing special to rave about.

香煎羅卜糕

糯米雞

豉椒鳳爪

芋茸蔥油酥

鮮蝦腐皮卷

叉燒包

I was alittle disappointed with their Char Siew Bao. Although the filling was still tasty, I felt that the bao was too think and dry, not as fluffy as it used to be. The Banana Prawn Roll were quite bad. So thin you could hardly taste the banana, let alone the prawn. Also, until today I am still wondering how the dish came with two-and-a-half rolls. Where did the extra half roll come from? or Was a half roll missing?

香蕉蝦筒

水晶鮮蝦餃

上海小籠包

鮮蝦香茜粉果

上素水晶包

魚子燒賣

The Deep Fried Custard Buns are really nice. Not oily at all, and the soft bun wrapped in crispy skin was a delight to bite into. My son commented that the Mini Egg Tarts were nothing compared with the ones we had in Macau. But they were quite good already considering Singapore standards. Really cannot complain. The sesame coated Deep Fried Dumpling with Custard was also quite good.

炸奶王包

芝麻奶皇薯棗

迷你蛋撻

All in all, it was quite a pleasant brunch. The food was above average and we got a 50% discount on the dim sum. Must be some sort of promotion that we were not aware of.
